Numbers 9 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 The Lord spoke to Moses in the Sinai desert. This was during the first month of the second year after the Israelites came out of Egypt. He said to Moses,
2 "Tell the Israelites to celebrate Passover at the chosen time.
3 They must eat the Passover meal just before dark on the 14 day of this month. They must do this at the chosen time, and they must follow all the rules about Passover."
4 So Moses told the Israelites to celebrate Passover.
5 The people did this in the Sinai desert just before dark on the 14 day of the first month. The Israelites did everything just as the Lord commanded Moses.
6 But some of the people could not celebrate Passover that day. They were unclean because they had touched a dead body. So they went to Moses and Aaron that day
7 and said to Moses, "We touched a dead body and became unclean. But why must we be kept from offering our gifts to the Lord at the chosen time with the rest of the Israelites?"
8 Moses said to them, "I will ask the Lord what he says about this."
9 Then the Lord said to Moses,
10 "Tell the Israelites this: This rule will be for you and your descendants. Maybe someone is not able to celebrate Passover at the right time. Maybe they are unclean because they touched a dead body. Or maybe they were away on a trip.
11 They will still be able to celebrate Passover at another time. They must celebrate Passover just before dark on the 14 day of the second month. At that time they must eat the lamb, the bread made without yeast, and the bitter herbs.
12 They must not leave any of that food until the next morning. And they must not break any of the bones of the lamb. They must follow all the rules about Passover.
13 But anyone who is able must celebrate Passover at the right time. If they are clean and they are not away on a trip, there is no excuse for them not to do it. If they don't celebrate Passover at the right time, they must be separated from their people. They are guilty and must be punished, because they did not give the Lord his gift at the right time.
14 "A foreigner living among you might want to share in the Lord's Passover with you. This is allowed, but that person must follow all the rules about Passover. The same rules are for everyone."
15 On the day the Holy Tent, the Tent of the Agreement, was set up, the Lord's cloud covered it. At night the cloud over the Holy Tent looked like fire.
16 The cloud stayed over the Holy Tent all the time. And at night the cloud looked like fire.
17 When the cloud moved from its place over the Holy Tent, the Israelites followed it. When the cloud stopped, that is the place where the Israelites camped.
18 This was the way the Lord showed the Israelites when to move and when to stop and set up camp. While the cloud stayed over the Holy Tent, the people continued to camp in that same place.
19 Sometimes the cloud would stay over the Holy Tent for a long time. The Israelites obeyed the Lord and did not move.
20 Sometimes the cloud was over the Holy Tent for only a few days. So the people obeyed the Lord's command—they followed the cloud when it moved.
21 Sometimes the cloud stayed only during the night—the next morning the cloud moved. So the people gathered their things and followed it. If the cloud moved, during the day or during the night, they followed it.
22 If the cloud stayed over the Holy Tent for two days, or a month, or a year, the people continued to obey the Lord. They stayed at that place and did not leave until the cloud moved. When the cloud rose from its place and moved, they also moved.
23 So the people obeyed the Lord's commands. They camped when the Lord told them to, and they moved when he told them to. They watched carefully and obeyed the Lord's commands to Moses.
1 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 in the wilderness H4057 of Sinai H5514 , in the first H7223 month H2320 BD-NMS of the second H8145 D-ONUM year H8141 after they were come out H3318 of the land H776 M-NFS of Egypt H4714 EFS , saying H559 L-VQFC ,
2 Let the children H1121 CMP of Israel H3478 also keep H6213 the passover H6453 at his appointed season H4150 .
3 In the fourteenth H702 day H3117 NMS of this H2088 D-PMS month H2320 BD-NMS , at H996 PREP even H6153 , ye shall keep H6213 it in his appointed season H4150 : according to all H3605 the rites H2708 of it , and according to all H3605 the ceremonies H4941 thereof , shall ye keep H6213 it .
4 And Moses H4872 spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , that they should keep H6213 the passover H6453 .
5 And they kept H6213 W-VQY3MP the passover H6453 on the fourteenth H702 day H3117 NMS of the first H7223 month H2320 LD-NMS at H996 PREP even H6153 in the wilderness H4057 of Sinai H5514 : according to all H3605 K-NMS that H834 RPRO the LORD H3068 EDS commanded H6680 VPQ3MS Moses H4872 , so H3651 ADV did H6213 VQQ3MP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS .
6 And there were H1961 W-VQY3MS certain men H376 , who H834 RPRO were H1961 VQQ3MP defiled H2931 by the dead body H5315 L-GFS of a man H120 NMS , that they could H3201 not H3808 W-NPAR keep H6213 the passover H6453 on that H1931 D-PPRO-3MS day H3117 B-AMS : and they came H7126 before H6440 L-CMP Moses H4872 and before H6440 L-CMP Aaron H175 on that H1931 day H3117 B-AMS :
7 And those H1992 men H376 D-NMP said H559 W-VQY3MP unto H413 PREP-3MS him , We H587 PPRO-1MP are defiled H2931 by the dead body H5315 L-GFS of a man H120 NMS : wherefore H4100 L-IPRO are we kept back H1639 , that we may not H1115 L-NPAR offer H7126 an offering H7133 of the LORD H3068 EDS in his appointed season H4150 among H8432 B-NMS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS ?
8 And Moses H4872 said H559 W-VQY3MS unto H413 PREP-3MS them , Stand still H5975 , and I will hear H8085 what H4100 IPRO the LORD H3068 EDS will command H6680 concerning you .
9 And the LORD H3068 EDS spoke H1696 W-VPY3MS unto H413 PREP Moses H4872 , saying H559 ,
10 Speak H1696 VPFC unto H413 PREP the children H1121 of Israel H3478 , saying H559 L-VQFC , If H3588 CONJ any man H376 NMS of you or H176 CONJ of your posterity H1755 shall be H1961 unclean H2931 by reason of a dead body H5315 , or H176 CONJ be in a journey H1870 afar off H7350 , yet he shall keep H6213 W-VQQ3MS the passover H6453 unto the LORD H3068 .
11 The fourteenth H702 day H3117 NMS of the second H8145 D-ONUM month H2320 BD-NMS at H996 PREP even H6153 they shall keep H6213 it , and eat H398 it with H5921 PREP unleavened bread H4682 and bitter H4844 herbs .
12 They shall leave H7604 none H3808 ADV of H4480 M-PREP-3MS it unto H5704 PREP the morning H1242 NMS , nor H3808 NADV break H7665 any bone H6106 of it : according to all H3605 the ordinances H2708 of the passover H6453 they shall keep H6213 it .
13 But the man H376 D-NMS that H834 RPRO is clean H2889 AMS , and is H1961 VQQ3MS not H3808 NADV in a journey H1870 , and forbeareth H2308 to keep H6213 L-VQFC the passover H6453 , even the same H1931 PPRO-3MS soul H5315 D-NFS shall be cut off H3772 from among his people H5971 : because H3588 CONJ he brought H7126 VHQ3MS not H3808 NADV the offering H7133 of the LORD H3068 EDS in his appointed season H4150 , that H1931 D-PPRO-3FS man H376 D-NMS shall bear H5375 VQY3MS his sin H2399 .
14 And if H3588 a stranger H1616 NMS shall sojourn H1481 among H854 PART-2MP you , and will keep H6213 the passover H6453 unto the LORD H3068 L-EDS ; according to the ordinance H2708 of the passover H6453 , and according to the manner H4941 thereof , so H3651 ADV shall he do H6213 VQY3MS : ye shall have H1961 VQY3MS one H259 OFS ordinance H2708 , both for the stranger H1616 , and for him that was born H249 in the land H776 D-GFS .
15 And on the day H3117 that the tabernacle H4908 was reared up H6965 the cloud H6051 covered H3680 VPQ3MS the tabernacle H4908 , namely , the tent H168 of the testimony H5715 : and at even H6153 there was H1961 VQY3MS upon H5921 PREP the tabernacle H4908 as it were the appearance H4758 of fire H784 CMS , until H5704 PREP the morning H1242 .
16 So H3651 ADV it was H1961 VQY3MS always H8548 : the cloud H6051 covered H3680 it by day , and the appearance H4758 of fire H784 CMS by night H3915 NMS .
17 And when H6310 the cloud H6051 was taken up H5927 from M-PREP the tabernacle H168 , then after H310 that H3651 ADV the children H1121 of Israel H3478 journeyed H5265 : and in the place H4725 where H834 RPRO the cloud H6051 abode H7931 VQY3MS , there H8033 ADV the children H1121 of Israel H3478 LMS pitched their tents H2583 .
18 At H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS the children H1121 of Israel H3478 journeyed H5265 , and at H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS they pitched H2583 : as long as NMS the cloud H6051 abode H7931 VQY3MS upon H5921 PREP the tabernacle H4908 they rested in their tents H2583 .
19 And when the cloud H6051 tarried long H748 upon H5921 PREP the tabernacle H4908 many H7227 AMP days H3117 NMP , then the children H1121 CMP of Israel H3478 kept H8104 the charge H4931 of the LORD H3068 EDS , and journeyed H5265 not H3808 W-NPAR .
20 And so it was H3426 , when H834 RPRO the cloud H6051 was H1961 VQY3MS a few H4557 NMS days H3117 NMP upon H5921 PREP the tabernacle H4908 ; according to H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS they abode in their tents H2583 , and according to H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS they journeyed H5265 .
21 And so it was H3426 , when H834 RPRO the cloud H6051 abode H1961 VQY3MS from even H6153 unto H5704 PREP the morning H1242 B-NMS , and that the cloud H6051 was taken up H5927 in the morning H1242 B-NMS , then they journeyed H5265 : whether H176 CONJ it was by day H3119 ADV or by night H3915 W-NMS that the cloud H6051 was taken up H5927 , they journeyed H5265 .
22 Or H176 CONJ whether it were two days H3117 , or H176 CONJ a month H2320 , or H176 CONJ a year H3117 NMP , that the cloud H6051 tarried H748 upon H5921 PREP the tabernacle H4908 , remaining H7931 L-VQFC thereon H5921 PREP , the children H1121 of Israel H3478 abode in their tents H2583 , and journeyed H5265 not H3808 W-NPAR : but when it was taken up H5927 , they journeyed H5265 .
23 At H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS they rested in the tents H2583 , and at H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS they journeyed H5265 : they kept H8104 the charge H4931 of the LORD H3068 EDS , at H5921 PREP the commandment H6310 of the LORD H3068 EDS by the hand H3027 B-CFS of Moses H4872 .
