2 Samuel 22:39 (ERVEN) Easy to Read - English

1 David sang this song to the Lord when the Lord saved him from Saul and all his other enemies.
2 The Lord is my Rock, my fortress, my place of safety.
3 He is my God, the Rock I run to for protection. He is my shield; by his power I am saved. He is my hiding place, my place of safety, high in the hills. He is my savior, the one who saves me from the cruel enemy.
4 I called to the Lord for help, and he saved me from my enemies. He is worthy of my praise!
5 Waves of death were crashing around me. A deadly flood was carrying me away.
6 The ropes of the grave wrapped around me. Death set its trap right there in front of me.
7 In my trouble I called to the Lord. Yes, I cried out to my God for help. There in his temple he heard my voice. He heard my cry for help.
8 The earth shook and shivered. The foundations of heaven trembled. They shook because the Lord was angry.
9 Smoke came from his nose. Burning flames came from his mouth. Red-hot coals fell from him.
10 He tore open the sky and came down! He stood on a thick, dark cloud.
11 He flew across the sky, riding on a Cherub angel, gliding on the wings of the wind.
12 He wrapped himself in darkness that covered him like a tent. He was hidden by dark clouds filled with water.
13 Out of the brightness before him, flashes of lightning came down.
14 The Lord thundered from the sky. God Most High let his voice be heard.
15 He scattered the enemy with his arrows— the lightning bolts that threw them into confusion.
16 The Lord shouted his command, and a powerful wind began to blow. Then the bottom of the sea could be seen, and the earth's foundations were uncovered.
17 The Lord reached down from above and grabbed me. He pulled me from the deep water.
18 He saved me from my powerful enemies, who hated me. They were too strong for me, so he saved me.
19 They attacked me in my time of trouble, but the Lord was there to support me.
20 He was pleased with me, so he rescued me. He took me to a safe place.
21 The Lord rewarded me for doing what is right. He was good to me because I am innocent.
22 The Lord did this because I have obeyed him. I have not turned against my God.
23 I always remembered his laws. I never stopped following his rules.
24 He knows I did nothing that was wrong. I have kept myself from sinning.
25 So the Lord rewarded me for doing what is right. He could see that I am innocent.
26 Lord, you are faithful to those who are faithful. You are good to those who are good.
27 You never do wrong to those who have done no wrong. But you outsmart the wicked, no matter how clever they are.
28 You help those who are humble, but as soon as you see the proud, you humiliate them.
29 Lord, you are my lamp. You, Lord, turn the darkness around me into light.
30 With your help I can defeat an army. If my God is with me, I can climb over enemy walls.
31 God's way is perfect. The Lord's promise always proves to be true. He protects those who trust him.
32 There is no God except the Lord. There is no Rock except our God.
33 God is my strong fortress. He clears the path I need to take.
34 He makes my feet as steady as those of a deer. Even on steep mountains he keeps me from falling.
35 He trains me for war so that my arms can bend the most powerful bow.
36 Lord, you have given me your shield to protect me. It is your help that has made me great.
37 You cleared a path for my feet so that I could walk without stumbling.
38 I chased my enemies and defeated them. I did not stop until they were destroyed.
39 I destroyed my enemies. I struck them down. They did not get up again. They fell under my feet.
40 Lord, you made me strong in battle. You made my enemies fall before me.
41 You made my enemies turn and run away. I destroyed those who hated me.
42 They looked for help, but there was no one to save them. They cried out to the Lord, but he did not answer them.
43 I beat my enemies into pieces like dust on the ground. I smashed them and walked on them like mud in the streets.
44 You saved me from those who fought against me. You made me the ruler over nations. People I never knew now serve me.
45 Foreigners fall helpless before me! As soon as they heard about me, they were ready to obey.
46 They lose all their courage and come out of their hiding places shaking with fear.
47 The Lord lives! I praise my Rock! How great is my God, the Rock who saves me!
48 He is the God who punishes my enemies for me, the one who puts people under my rule.
49 He saves me from my enemies! You, Lord, help me defeat those who attack me. You save me from cruel people.
50 Lord, that is why I praise you among the nations. That is why I sing songs of praise to your name.
51 The Lord helps his king win battle after battle. He shows his faithful love to the one he has chosen, to David and his descendants forever.

4 I will call on H7121 the LORD H3068 EDS , who is worthy to be praised H1984 : so shall I be saved H3467 from mine enemies H341 .

16 And the channels H650 of the sea H3220 NMS appeared H7200 , the foundations H4146 of the world H8398 NFS were discovered H1540 , at the rebuking H1606 of the LORD H3068 EDS , at the blast H5397 M-CFS of the breath H7307 NFS of his nostrils H639 CMS-3MS .
17 He sent H7971 VQY3MS from above H4791 , he took H3947 me ; he drew H4871 me out of many waters H4325 ;
18 He delivered H5337 me from my strong enemy H341 , and from them that hated H8130 me : for H3588 CONJ they were too strong H553 for H4480 PREP-1MS me .
19 They prevented H6923 me in the day H3117 B-NMS of my calamity H343 : but the LORD H3068 EDS was H1961 W-VQY3MS my stay H4937 .
20 He brought me forth H3318 W-VHY3MS also into a large place H4800 : he delivered H2502 me , because H3588 CONJ he delighted H2654 in me .
21 The LORD H3068 EDS rewarded H1580 me according to my righteousness H6666 : according to the cleanness H1252 of my hands H3027 hath he recompensed H7725 VHY3MS me .
22 For H3588 CONJ I have kept H8104 VQQ1MS the ways H1870 CMD-1MS of the LORD H3068 EDS , and have not H3808 W-NPAR wickedly H7561 VQQ1MS departed from my God H430 .
23 For H3588 CONJ all H3605 CMS his judgments H4941 were before H5048 me : and as for his statutes H2708 , I did not H3808 NADV depart H5493 from H4480 PREP-3FS them .
24 I was H1961 W-VQY1MS also upright H8549 before him and have kept myself H8104 from mine iniquity H5771 .
25 Therefore the LORD H3068 EDS hath recompensed H7725 W-VHY3MS me according to my righteousness H6666 ; according to my cleanness H1252 in H5048 L-PREP his eye sight H5869 .
26 With H5973 PREP the merciful H2623 thou wilt show thyself merciful H2616 , and with H5973 PREP the upright H8549 AMS man H1368 AMS thou wilt show thyself upright H8552 .
27 With H5973 PREP the pure H2889 thou wilt show thyself pure H1305 ; and with H5973 the froward H6141 thou wilt show thyself unsavory H6617 .
28 And the afflicted H6041 AMS people H5971 NMS thou wilt save H3467 : but thine eyes H5869 are upon H5921 PREP the haughty H7311 VQPMP , that thou mayest bring them down H8213 .
29 For H3588 CONJ thou H859 PPRO-2MS art my lamp H5216 , O LORD H3068 EDS : and the LORD H3068 W-EDS will lighten H5050 my darkness H2822 .
30 For H3588 CONJ by thee I have run H7323 through a troop H1416 : by my God H430 have I leaped H1801 over a wall H7791 .
31 As for God H410 , his way H1870 CMS-3MS is perfect H8549 AMS ; the word H565 of the LORD H3068 EDS is tried H6884 : he H1931 PPRO-3MS is a buckler H4043 NMS to all H3605 them that trust H2620 in him .
32 For H3588 CONJ who H4310 W-IPRO is God H410 EDS , save H1107 the LORD H3068 EDS ? and who H4310 W-IPRO is a rock H6697 NMS , save H1107 our God H430 ?
33 God H410 is my strength H4581 and power H2428 : and he maketh H5425 my way H1870 CMS-3MS perfect H8549 AMS .
34 He maketh H7737 my feet H7272 like hinds H355 \' feet : and setteth H5975 me upon H5921 W-PREP my high places H1116 .
35 He teacheth H3925 my hands H3027 to war H4421 ; so that a bow H7198 of steel H5154 NFS is broken H5181 by mine arms H2220 .
36 Thou hast also given H5414 me the shield H4043 NMS of thy salvation H3468 : and thy gentleness H6038 hath made me great H7235 .
37 Thou hast enlarged H7337 my steps H6806 under H8478 me ; so that my feet H7166 did not H3808 W-NPAR slip H4571 .
38 I have pursued H7291 mine enemies H341 , and destroyed H8045 them ; and turned not again H3808 W-NPAR until H5704 PREP I had consumed H3615 them .

41 Thou hast also given H5414 me the necks H6203 of mine enemies H341 , that I might destroy H6789 them that hate H8130 me .

43 Then did I beat H7833 them as small as the dust H6083 K-NMS of the earth H776 NFS , I did stamp H1854 them as the mire H2916 of the street H2351 , and did spread them abroad H7554 .
44 Thou also hast delivered H6403 me from the strivings H7379 of my people H5971 , thou hast kept H8104 me to be head H7218 of the heathen H1471 NMP : a people H5971 NMS which I knew H3045 VQY1MS not H3808 NADV shall serve H5647 me .
45 Strangers H1121 shall submit themselves H3584 unto me : as soon as they hear H8085 , they shall be obedient H8085 unto me .
46 Strangers H1121 shall fade away H5034 , and they shall be afraid H2296 out of their close places H4526 .
47 The LORD H3068 EDS liveth H2416 AMS ; and blessed H1288 W-VWPMS be my rock H6697 ; and exalted H7311 be the God H430 CDP of the rock H6697 NMS of my salvation H3468 .
48 It is God H410 that avengeth H5414 D-VQPMS me , and that bringeth down H8213 the people H5971 NMP under H8478 me ,
49 And that bringeth me forth H3318 from mine enemies H341 : thou also hast lifted me up on high H7311 above them that rose up H6965 against me : thou hast delivered H5337 me from the violent man H376 M-NMS .
50 Therefore H5921 PREP I will give thanks H3034 unto thee , O LORD H3068 EDS , among the heathen H1471 , and I will sing praises H2167 unto thy name H8034 .
51 He is the tower H4024 of salvation H3444 for his king H4428 : and showeth H6213 mercy H2617 NMS to his anointed H4899 , unto David H1732 L-NAME , and to his seed H2233 forevermore H5704 PREP .
